PALO ALTO – A three-alarm fire Tuesday night destroyed a Palo Alto home tied to Google co-founder Larry Page and injured two firefighters, according to authorities and media reports.
The fire was reported at 8:10 p.m. in the 2100 block of Bryant Street, according to the Palo Alto Fire Department. Crews arrived to find “heavy fire on three sides of the structure and on both stories.” Flames were also threatening trees on one side of the residence.
The department said second and third alarms were called “as the fire proved to be a challenge for all involved.”
“PAFD crews worked diligently to gain control of the fire and prevent it from engulfing the rest of the structure and spreading to any neighboring properties,” the department said.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention, according to the Daily Beast.
A neighbor told Palo Alto Online the home was either owned by “Larry Page or Google itself” and was being used during the day as an office by a “small team of people.”
The residence is valued at $10.9 million, according to Santa Clara County property records. It is owned by 2175 Bryant St. LLC, which shares the same address as Page’s Carl Victor Page Memorial Foundation, the Daily Beast and Palo Alto Online reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
