EAST SAN JOSE — A man killed Monday morning after driving his car off an Interstate 680 on-ramp and hitting a tree has been identified by authorities.
Officers responded at about 10:30 a.m. Monday to a report of a collision on the ramp from McKee Road to northbound I-680, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Ross Lee.
The driver, identified as 45-year-old George Manuel Rodriguez Jr., veered off the right side of the on-ramp, went up the embankment and hit a tree, Lee said. He was found dead in the driver’s seat.
More details about the crash weren’t immediately released.
