A Florida man turned himself in on Tuesday after he was accused of carrying out a brutal attack on a 73-year-old man.

Surveillance video, according to reports, captured Walker’s purported attack on the elderly man and appears to show him repeatedly punching the victim, after which time he reportedly snatched the victim’s cell phone from his hands and smashed it on the ground.

What are the details?

In Winter Haven, Florida, police say that 43-year-old Florida resident Donald Ray Walker turned himself in to authorities after he was accused of engaging in a verbal dispute with an unnamed elderly man as the victim was leaving a grocery store and entering a crosswalk.

Witnesses said that the elderly man protested after Walker nearly hit the man with his vehicle, prompting Walker to get out of the vehicle and punch him.

Surveillance footage from a nearby building showed the elderly victim shrinking away from his attacker, and authorities said at this time the victim told Walker that he was going to call the police over the violent and unwarranted attack.

The purported remark, judging by the video, apparently enraged Walker even further, as he then converged on the elderly man and knocked him to the ground, where he rained down no fewer than 10 blows on the victim.

At that point, Walker was seen snatching the victim’s cell phone from his hand and smashing it on the ground.

The suspect then reportedly fled from the scene.

Authorities have yet to release any information on the elderly man’s condition at the time of this reporting.

Police told local news outlets that Walker turned himself in at the Polk County Jail on Tuesday morning, but did not specify the charges he faces in connection with the attack.
