SAN JOSE — A truck driver died from his injuries two days after he veered off the roadway into a median, crashing into a tree, according to authorities.
The crash was reported at about 6:10 a.m. Tuesday on South White Road near Quimby Road, according to a San Jose Police Department news release.
A man driving a 2014 Ford F-150 truck was traveling south on White, just north of Quimby, when he left the roadway and veered into the median, colliding with a tree, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died Thursday.
The man’s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin, police said.
The death marked the 19th roadway fatality of the year, according to authorities. Five of those have been on South White Road — three motorists and two pedestrians.
The city last year recorded 60 traffic deaths, matching a 20-year peak also reached in 2019 and 2015.
