Neighborhood Notes
ROSE GARDEN>>Mimosas Café has opened a second San Jose location at 975 The Alameda, suite 80. Founded in 2016 by Benjamin Ruiz, Mimosas Café is known for serving its titular drink in large quantities.
The new Mimosas Café replaces Sushi Infinity, which operated in the space from 2009 to 2020. Ruiz also has a Mimosa’s location in Campbell.
WILLOW GLEN>>Hicklebee’s Bookstore is partnering with Hachette Book Group to present singer/songwriter Dolly Parton and bestselling author James Patterson in a March 6 discussion of their new book “Run, Rose, Run.”
While this may seem an odd collaboration, the New York Times pointed out that “both of them came from small towns and overcame the odds to build entertainment empires. They’re both in their 70s, and neither shows any inclination of retiring soon. They both have nonprofits dedicated to childhood reading and literacy. Both of them are prolific writers in their genres.”
Tickets are $32.80 on Eventbrite.com and include access to a special livestream on Youtube, as well as a copy of the book to be picked up at Hicklebee’s, 1378 Lincoln Ave., or shipped to the provided address.
“Run, Rose, Run” is a Nashville-set thriller about “a young singer-songwriter on the rise and on the run, and determined to do whatever it takes to survive.” The book has a soundtrack, sold separately.
