A video shared online reportedly shows the jubilant glee expressed by young schoolchildren after learning that they would soon not be required to wear face masks.
Courtney Holland, whose Twitter bio indicates that she is the vice chair and national committeewoman for Nevada Young Republicans, shared the video on social media and said that the children were at a Las Vegas elementary school.
In the footage, someone can be heard announcing that beginning the next day, “we don’t have to wear masks anymore” — after hearing the news, the children begin shouting excitedly.
This week Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) announced the lifting of the state’s mask mandate, noting that businesses and schools may set their own masking policies.
Mask mandates, particularly those requiring kids to wear masks during school, have been very controversial during the pandemic.
U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky (R) commented on the video, tweeting, “Heart warming, but the abuse they’ve endured at the hands of psychotic adults will have lifelong effects.”
“Their joy is so uplifting! Simultaneously, enraged that children suffered because of the wide scale neurosis of the Left. Time for political payback,” Steve Cortes tweeted.
“This reaction is all you need to know about what the COVID gods’ decisions have done to our children. We want to see our children joyful. We want to see our children’s smiles,” Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin tweeted.
