Harker soccer player Ishaan Mantripragada has been named Bay Area News Group boys high school athlete of the week for Jan. 31-Feb. 6 after he received 8,398 votes (41.44%) by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

Mountain View quarterback Jackson Steffen, who led the North to victory in the Charlie Wedemeyer all-star game, finished second (35.22%) and Menlo School soccer player Alessandro Velazquez took third.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Mantripragada, a senior, scored four goals to lead Harker to a 5-1 victory over The King’s Academy. He also scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Crystal Springs Uplands. Mantripragada began this week with 26 goals on the season, leading Harker to an 11-1-1 record.
