Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky mocked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her expected choice to chair the House Transportation Committee by posting a video of the candidate parking badly.
Massie posted the video to his official social media account and added that he was not joking. The video showed a very bad parking job reportedly by Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-District of Colombia).
“@SpeakerPelosi is seriously considering this person to serve as the chairwoman of the Transportation Committee,” tweeted Massie.
“Folks, I’m not making this up,” he added with a second tweet with a link about Norton being considered by Pelosi to serve as the chairwoman of the Transportation Committee.
The tweet from Massie went viral on Twitter with more than 8,300 likes and 3,600 retweets.
Massie had previously mocked Norton with the same video on Tuesday when she ridiculed him for resisting the vaccine mandate in D.C. and said she would provide sandwiches to his staffers who were afraid of being fired over his stance.
“We appreciate the offer @EleanorNorton. Just please promise you won’t drive to get the sandwiches,” he joked.
Norton was first elected to Congress in 1991 and is 84 years old. She made headlines in July 2020 when she said she would fight any effort by the then-Washington Redskins to relocate to Washington D.C. while they retained their old name whichmany considered racist.
“I call on Dan Snyder once again to face that reality, since he does still desperately want to be in the nation’s capital,” Norton said at the time. “He has got a problem he can’t get around — and he particularly can’t get around it today, after the George Floyd killing.”
The team later changed its name to the Washington Football Team.
