PLEASANTON — A 30-year-old San Jose woman was arrested on suspicion of several charges after fleeing a hit-and-run collision soon after an attempted traffic stop and police pursuit, authorities said.
In a statement, police said dispatchers received an alert about a truck stolen out of East Palo Alto around 2:20 p.m. Moments later, officers saw the truck heading westbound on Bernal Avenue toward Interstate 680.
But the truck’s driver failed to yield when officers tried to stop it, and it fled onto northbound I-680. Officers pursued the truck but stopped near West Las Positas Boulevard when it began driving recklessly along the roadway’s right shoulder.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., officers pulled off I-680 at Stoneridge Drive and soon saw the truck had struck another vehicle. After finding that vehicle’s occupants were not seriously hurt, officers searched nearby and found the truck’s driver hiding in bushes at a parking lot.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading and felony hit-and-run, and booked into Santa Rita Jail. She was not initially listed in custody, according to a county jail records check Thursday night.
California Highway Patrol officers will investigate the incident, but anyone with information may call Pleasanton police at 925-931-5100.
