It seems that trucks keep getting bigger and bigger, but large pickups aren’t exactly a new thing. Passenger and cargo space have always been valuable commodities. There’s plenty of both in our Pick of the Day, a 1977 Chevrolet C20 Crew Cab 3+3 posted for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealership in Fort Worth, Texas.
Trucks like these were meant to be worked hard and many of them were. And if the job site didn’t do some of these beasts of burden in, time and accidents did. After all, trucks from the 1970s are either in their 50s or very close to them. Luckily, this giant was given a new lease on life. The Crew Cab exterior was refinished in a combination of shiny new Black Cherry and Stone Gray Metallic paint (as well as equipped with GMC badging).
The GMC theme continues with the later-model wheels, which are wrapped in a set of 285/75 tires. Just in case you need to get some work done, the inside of the cargo box is protected by a spray-in bed liner.
Inside, there are two tan vinyl bench seats that can fit you and five of your family members, friends, or co-workers. Whatever you end up doing in this truck, you’ll have the convenience of power steering, power brakes, a RetroSound stereo, and a trailer brake controller.
You’ll also have the power of an LQ4 6.0-liter V8 equipped with long-tube headers, which connect to a dual exhaust system, and a 4L80E four-speed automatic. That pairing should add up to more power for pulling a boat or a landscaping trailer and better fuel economy on your way to a construction project or a get-together with friends.
Once you buy this truck for the $48,995 asking price, you can decide whether you want it to be a babied weekend truck or an everyday work vehicle. Whichever way you, go people will instantly know when you’ve arrived. In fact, they’ll see you coming from a mile away.
