“This is the sports car no one can match,” Pontiac said about the 1994 Firebird Trans Am. At its price point of $20,319, the car brought an impressive list of features to the table – particularly when it came to safety. Some of those included driver and passenger air bags, a theft-deterrent key system, anti-lock disc brakes, and safety cage construction. “Suddenly, the rest of the world’s sports cars have a lot to answer for,” one advertisement said.
Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 33K-Mile 25th Anniversary 1994 Pontiac Trans Am. The car is being offered by a dealer in Palmetto, Florida, and the auction will end Monday.
Showing just 33,591 miles on the odometer, the car is one of 1,825 total 25th Anniversary coupes that were manufactured for the model year. That Anniversary package was a $995 add-on when new, bringing the Firebird’s total retail price to $23,769 according to a window sticker I found for a similar car. When it came to bang for the buck, it was a compelling performance car.
The fourth-generation Firebird first launched in 1993 along with its F-body sibling, the Chevrolet Camaro. Both was manufactured in Quebec, Canada. The following year, the 25th Anniversary option added a Bright White exterior with what Pontiac called an “Aero Appearance Package.” Adding to the look were fog lamps, a blue accent stripe, color-matched white 16-inch wheels, removable T-tops, a rear spoiler, and anniversary logos.
Stepping inside the cockpit, the two-plus-two seats are trimmed in perforated white leather with “25 Trans Am” embroidery on the seatbacks. Conveniences include air conditioning, articulating bucket seats, full gauges, power windows and door locks, cruise control, and an electric hatch release. Pontiac became known in the 1980s and 1990s for its button-heavy controls, but this Firebird is limited to just the essentials. The steering wheel-mounted audio controls were an advanced feature for the time, and the Delco AM/FM cassette has a built-in equalizer and 10 speakers.
Collectors will be pleased to see that the CARFAX is as clean as they come, showing accident-free ownership spanning New York, New Jersey, and Florida. According to the records, this car had 31,453 miles on it in 2015, so in the decade since then, it’s only driven about another 2,000.
In other words, the 5.7-liter V8 has a lot of life left in it. The motor was originally rated at 275 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque when new. An oil change was performed in April 2024 according to the CARFAX.
The Trans Am GT was a good value when it came out in 1994, and it’s an even better collector opportunity today – especially when found in a limited-production trim level and with low miles. Don’t miss your chance to pick this one up!
The auction for this 33K-Mile 25th Anniversary 1994 Pontiac Trans Am will end Monday, January 20, 2025 at 11:15 a.m. (MST)
