I recently joined a convoy of cars to head from Arizona to the RADwood 1980s-1990s car show in Los Angeles. One of the vehicles in our group was a teal metallic 1996 Bronco XLT owned by my friend Greg. Throughout the road trip and during the show itself, the Bronco received a great deal of attention.
Across the 20-year span between 1966 and 1996, data shows that over a million Broncos were sold, so it makes sense that many people in the car enthusiast community – including myself – have some sort of Bronco connection.
Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1967 Ford Bronco 4WD. It is being offered by a dealer in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the auction will end Thursday.
Finished in eye-catching blue metallic with silver fender flares, the Bronco has been upgraded with a lifted suspension and meaty Dick Cepek off-road tires. For an open-air experience, the color-matched hardtop can be removed. And on the interior, the seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl. A rear bench is included with sale (although it will require refurbishment).
Capability was the name of the game when it came to engineering the first-generation Bronco. It came with a long list of credentials to give it a competitive edge: Coil-spring front suspension for a comfortable ride, radius arm design for tough terrain, short 92-inch wheelbase (and a turning radius of 33.6 feet), a passenger-friendly cabin and standard four-wheel drive.
Ford advertising materials said, “Bronco adds excitement to the going, wherever you go: through the woods for hunting, up to streamside for fishing, through snow in winter, over beach in the summer. Try and Roadster, Wagon, or Sports Utility for a special kind of driving fun – on or off the road.”
The selling dealer’s video shows a start-up sequence as well as an exterior walk-around with the Bronco at idle. It looks and sounds great! Power comes from a 289ci V8 that was rated at 200 horsepower and 282 lb-ft of torque when new. A column-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case direct power to all four wheels. While the odometer shows 74,483 miles, true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
Whether your travels take you to the woods, the stream or the urban jungle, this Bronco will transport you in style. A service manual and spare parts will accompany the sale.
The auction for this 1967 Ford Bronco 4WD will end Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. (MST)
