Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1963 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop. It was restored in 2005 and featured in the August 2012 issue of Auto Restorer magazine. Power comes from a Z-code 390ci V8, which is connected to a Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Acapulco Blue over a two-tone blue vinyl interior, this third-generation T-bird comes with a car cover, trophies, and a clear title.
The Acapulco Blue body is accented with chrome bumpers and brightwork and equipped with a cosmetic hood scoop, an adjustable driver-side mirror, and rear fender skirts.
This bird flies on a set of 14-inch wheels equipped with Thunderbird wheel covers and wrapped in 205/70 Douglas whitewall tires.
Inside the cabin is newer two-tone blue vinyl seating for four. Features include power windows, front bucket seats, lap belts, power steering, a column-mounted automatic shifter, a RetroSound AM/FM radio,, Pyle speakers, newer carpeting, and a newer headliner.
Vehicle information is displayed on a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the temperature and fuel level. The odometer shows 11,073 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
Under the hood, there’s a Z-code 390ci V8 that was factory-rated at 300 horsepower. It is connected to a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock air cleaner, and a Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission.
A 3.00:1 rear end sends this hardtop’s power to the road; power drum brakes keep that output in check. Newer hardware includes the shocks and the stainless steel brake and fuel lines, which were installed in 2020.
The auction for this 1963 Ford Thunderbird ends on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. (MST).
