OAKLAND — A man died after crashing an allegedly stolen vehicle into a utility pole early Saturday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 3:43 a.m., at the intersection of 51st Avenue and San Leandro Street. The unidentified man was reportedly traveling eastbound on San Leandro Street at high speed when his vehicle struck the pole.
It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the incident. The type of vehicle involved has not been confirmed by authorities.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the traffic division at 510-777-8570.
