DALLAS – The Dallas Police Department released video of the fatal shooting of a man accused of executing one officer and seriously wounding two others last Thursday.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said Friday that suspect Corey Cobb-Bey, 30, intentionally set out to shoot police when he killed Officer Darron Burks sitting in his patrol car at an Oak Cliff community center between calls. The gunman also wounded two additional officers who arrived at the scene to check on Burks, NBC 5 DFW reported.

While some referred to the officer’s murder as an ambush killing, Garcia said it was an “execution.” The late-night attack set into motion a vehicle pursuit that ended with officers fatally shooting the suspect.

On Monday, DPD released video that shows the moment Cobb-Bey eventually stopped on Interstate 35E in Lewisville and exited his white Buick. The video includes audio as someone on the police radio frequency said, “Felony stop, use caution.”

“Use caution, he’s looking back, he’s still in the car, coming out with a weapon,” the voice can be heard as the suspect is seen walking back toward officers. “Hands are up.”

“Drop the gun,” officers can be heard yelling at Cobb-Bey multiple times as he walks away and then back toward officers.

Cobb-Bey remains non-compliant as he continues to walk toward officers with the weapon in hand.

According to DPD, six officers opened opened fire, neutralizing the accused cop-killer.

“Roll EMS, roll EMS, we’ve got shots fired,” someone instructs over the police radio as the released footage concludes.

Cobb-Bey was struck by gunfire multiple times and died at the scene. No officers were injured.

Law enforcement authorities recovered two shotguns at the Lewisville scene and two handguns at the Oak Cliff crime scene.

According to Deputy Police Chief William Griffith, the investigation revealed the attack was “premeditated” after detectives obtained evidence on social media.

Griffith confirmed that Cobb-Bey recorded his lethal encounter with Burks on a cell phone. DPD said it will not be releasing that video.

Senior Corporal Jamie Farmer was the first officer to arrive on the scene in Oak Cliff and suffered a gunshot wound in the leg. Farmer was treated and released from the hospital Monday.

Senior Corporal Karissa David was the second officer to arrive at the scene of Burks’ shooting. She was shot in the face and was listed in critical condition on Friday.

On Monday, DPD’s spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said David is now listed in stable condition, NBC 5 reported.
