Do you know what Luftgekühlt means? No, it’s not something that came from Linda Richman’s Coffee Talk, but a German word that means “air-cooled soul.” It’s a word that perfectly describes a community of Porsche enthusiasts representing “a fresh perspective in the fragmented landscape of car culture.” Like what you hear so far? Then secure your ticket for Luft 10 on October 5, 2024 at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles.

This happening is the product of two enthusiasts: Le Mans winner Patrick Long, and SoCal creative director and marketer Howie Idelson. Bored with the same, old same-old, they put their heads together to create an automotive experience of the Teutonic kind. “Air-cooled Porsche history is our palette, unique venues are our canvas, and you the people create the masterpieces,” they say. Starting a decade ago “in a modest parking lot” in Venice, California, Luftgekühlt’s team has organized nearly 20 events around the world. “In everything we produce, we strive to create an unparalleled user experience that delivers delight through cross pollination of authentic storytelling, engineering science, and creative art.”

Tickets for the 10th anniversary event are on sale now. Even if your interest in air-cooled Porsche’s is peripheral, the opportunity to explore the Universal Studios backlot is enough for the price of admission. Of course, photographers of all abilities and stripes will appreciate the scenery complemented by some very significant Porsches.

If this very unique tribute to air-cooled Porsches sounds like a must-attend, visit luftgekuhlt.com and score a ticket or two before they sell out.
