Council race off and running

The race for two open seats on the Cupertino City Council got off to a robust start on July 15, the opening day of the nomination period.

Incumbents Hung Wei and Kitty Moore both pulled nomination papers, along with Parks and Recreation Commissioner Claudio Bono, Foothill-De Anza Board Trustee Gilbert Wong, community member Chitra Dhingra.and R “Ray” Wang.

Wang was ousted from the planning commission last year after being accused of harassing community members and city officials over the years.

Former Mayors Rod Sinks and Barry Chang also filed statements of intention to run, but had not yet pulled nomination papers.

The nomination period closes Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.cupertino.org/our-city/departments/city-clerk/cupertino-elections-info.
