If you are looking for what has to be the best deal on the planet for a high performance and exclusive two-door sports coupe, look no further than the first generation F87 BMW M2 Competition. The M2 is a sports car that can hold its own with cars which cost twice as much, more to service, and are not even as fun to drive as the M2.

You might be wondering why not just save a few dollars and get the standard F87 M2. Well the reason to buy the Competition version has everything to do with the engine. In the M2 Comp you get the S55 which has a lightweight crankshaft, different crankshaft bearings, stronger pistons and connecting rods, different valves, twin turbos, twin fuel pumps, active exhaust, a revised cooling system, and revised intercoolers. The M2 Comp as a result has 40 more horsepower and 63 lb-ft more torque than the standard M2 which gives it 405 horsepower.

The Pick of the Day is one of these cars, a 2020 BMW M2 Competition with only 38,000 miles for sale on ClassicCars.com. It is a well equipped example with options which include the Executive Package. The car is finished in Sunset Orange paint and the interior features BMW’s amazing looking and very comfortable sports seats covered in black leather with orange stitching and orange accents. In person they look even cooler than the pictures show. The interior also features carbon fiber accents on the dash, center console, and door panels.

You will notice that this M2 Comp is equipped with the BMW DTC dual clutch 7-speed gearbox. Before you start complaining that it does not have a standard manual, try driving a BMW with this gearbox. You are likely to come away surprised at just how well the DTC works, and with this transmission the car is not only faster in acceleration but also faster around a track than the manual transmission version.

There are a few interesting modifications to this car as well. These include custom 19-inch rims, a Noelle Performance chip and F1 Carbon performance exhaust that adds a deep and aggressive sound. The Dyno graph on the car is said to show this M2 having approximately 500 hp.

The seller states that this car has been meticulously maintained and they clearly state that this car has service records since it was new, which to me make this a car to seriously consider.

So this BMW M2 Comp is a car that offers performance that is just about on par with a Porsche 991 GT3 but costs a few hundred grand less. As a bonus with this car you end up with a car that is easier to live with than a GT3 Porsche. This car offers so much for the money it is kind of crazy not to consider it as a option. The price is $45,000 or best offer.
