OAKLAND — A 45-year old man was shot Friday night at an East Oakland homeless encampment where three other men were shot last Sunday, authorities said.

The man was in stable condition at a local hospital where he is recovering from a shotgun wound to the back, according to Oakland police.

The shooting happened 9 p.m. Friday at a camp on the 1100 Block of 47th Avenue, where the man who was shot lived, authorities said. The victim was shot by another man who then fled in a vehicle.

Police are trying to determine if the victim may have known the suspect and what the motive is for the shooting. Police are also trying to determine if the shooting is related to the March 24 shooting at the camp.

That shooting, which happened at 7:45 am, left three men, aged 42, 45 and 47, wounded. Police haven’t said if the three men lived at the camp.

A man in a vehicle had gotten in a verbal dispute with one of the men before parking and getting out and shooting at them. Police haven’t said what the dispute was about and haven’t announced any arrests.
