Several San Leandro businesses were temporarily locked down Monday while police investigated a report of a man carrying a rifle around an encampment.
Investigators confiscated two replica rifles after the incident, which began around 11 a.m. Monday when someone alerted police that a man was seen holding a rifle near Doolittle Drive and Carden Street, according to the Lt. Abe Teng of the San Leandro Police Department. The intersection is near Doolittle Drive and Davis Street.
Several businesses in the area were locked down while police flooded the area with officers. Three men were temporarily detained, but later released, Teng said.
