Nearly 22 million Americans could qualify for a new government matching contribution designed to boost retirement savings when the program takes effect in 2027, according to researchers.
That provision, included in the Secure 2.0 retirement legislation signed into law in December 2022, converts the saver’s credit into a match, a change intended to encourage more lower-income Americans to take advantage of the available government contribution.
