Mazda is often praised for its sporty driving dynamics, stylish design, and best bang for your buck. Does this hold true with their new CX-30 model?

The 2024 Mazda CX-30, positioned as Mazda’s most affordable and smallest crossover, returns with a variety of upgrades. The base CX-30 2.5 S trim starts at an MSRP of $24,995 and extends up to $36,800 for the Premium Plus Trim. Armed with the latter, we set out to explore its powertrain, interior, exterior, and see how well it performs on the road.

Adorned in Soul Red Metallic paint, the CX-30 sports a tastefully designed exterior. Mazda’s signature LED headlights and 18-inch gloss-black wheels complement the look. The heated side mirrors, roof rails, and power-operated liftgate make these features ideal for individuals who enjoy outdoor activities and off-road adventures. Under the hood lies a potent 2.5L turbo engine delivering 250 horsepower and 320 ft-lbs of torque that’s paired with a Sky-Activ-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission.

Stepping inside, the CX-30’s interior is quite pleasant. The 10.25-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, coupled with Bose 12-speaker premium audio, would make your average audiophile jump. The heated leather seats, wireless charger, and ample storage are nice and convenient for anyone. Rear seating, although slightly elevated (and oddly higher than the front seats), offers decent comfort and additional headroom, making it suitable for passengers of all sizes.

Behind the wheel, the CX-30 impresses with its responsive steering and agile handling. Sport mode unleashes its full potential, making it feel more like a sedan than a crossover. No matter the drive mode, you can expect a sensitive gas pedal, but don’t be alarmed, we found the sensitivity was still comfortable. This vehicle isn’t just a standard daily driver… It’s got just enough “zippiness” to get you excited every time you hop in.

The Mazda CX-30’s target demographic doesn’t discriminate. Whether you’re a college kid or starting a family, you’ll find the CX-30 manages to incorporate many different lifestyles. For students going to school, practices, or on a date, the CX-30’s agile handling and compact size make navigating city streets and parking lots a breeze. And when it’s time for a family outing to the zoo or a weekend getaway, the CX-30 offers ample cargo space for strollers, sports equipment, and luggage. But the CX-30 isn’t just about practicality – it’s also designed with the modern family in mind. With advanced safety technology, such as adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring, parents can enjoy added convenience and peace of mind on the road. The 2024 Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus excels in delivering an enjoyable driving experience for all.
