Monterey firefighters put out a residential duplex structure fire Saturday night that killed a cat and caused approximately $400,000 in damage.
Firefighters responded at 10:56 p.m. to the 400 block of Del Rosa Avenue in Monterey.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the room of origin and kept fire from spreading. Fire crews remained on scene overnight.
The residence sustained significant structural damage with an initial estimated loss set at approximately $400,000. The fire displaced one resident.
