Summary
The stock market entered one of its historically most-bullish times of the year on Friday, 12/22 — specially, the last five days of the old year and the first two days of the new year. When there is not a ‘Santa Clause rally’ over those days, it is deemed to be bearish for the new year. We find it odd that these very short periods of time are thought to have substantive predictive value for an entire year. Yet these periods always grab headlines, as data crunchers love to see their names in lights.
