A pedestrian in Richmond died early Wednesday after being hit by two cars near Hilltop Mall — including one vehicle piloted by a person who fled the scene, police said.
The collisions happened around 2:20 a.m. in the area of Hilltop Drive and Moyers Drive, according to a statement from Richmond police. Officers found the pedestrian in the westbound direction of Hilltop Drive, police said.
Authorities said she was a female but did not give her age. She died at the scene. He identity was being withheld pending confirmation and notification of her next of kin.
According to police, the driver of the first vehicle to hit the pedestrian kept going and did not report the collision.
A second motorist then ran over her as she was down on the ground, police said. The second driver reported the collision, stayed at the scene, and cooperated with investigators, police said.
Police are looking for the vehicle that fled the scene and the person who drove it. They said they are seeking the public’s help and urged anyone who may have information to contact Officer Michael Pagaling at 510-965-4982 or by emailing Michael.Pagaling@richmondpd.net.
