OAKLAND — Crews battled a three-alarm fire involving at least four small blazes Monday afternoon in the Oakland hills above Highway 13.
At about 4 p.m., a fire department spokesman said the “spot fires” were contained but not fully under control. The separate fires burned across a 1.5-mile stretch between Holy Names University on Mountain Boulevard and Joaquin Miller Road at Highway 13.
No structures were threatened, no evacuations were ordered and no injuries were reported. The fires were contained to an area of trees and brush, fire spokesman Michael Hunt said.
Dozens of firefighters responded to the scene after the initial call at 2:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, northbound lanes of Highway 13 at Interstate 580 were shut down Monday afternoon.
A possible cause of the fires was not immediately available.
