Everybody loves Bill Murray. Seriously.

We live in a society where even the most mundane topic tends to polarize people. Take candy corn, for example. One would think that we could just allow the candy to exist for a month a year, with those who enjoy it partaking to their heart’s content while others just avoid any contact with it whatsoever. But no, that’s not what we get. We get people drawing a firm line in the sand and screaming about how the candy is either the most vile thing on the planet while others claim it to be the only food worth consuming. It’s honestly exhausting.

Against all odds, Bill Murray has found himself to be an exception from this rigmarole. People just adore him. Murray exudes charm at all times, so even if you’re not a fan of a specific movie, you’ll find yourself still enjoying his performance.

Many years ago I attended opening day at Wrigley Field. The Cubs weren’t supposed to be particularly good that season, which is honestly par for the course with them, but they were playing the Pittsburgh Pirates who were expected to make a run at the league record for losses, so hopes were high. The April day brought some pretty typical Chicago weather as it was about 25 degrees with high winds. In other words, just about the most miserable weather you could ever imagine for a baseball game.

The Cubs ended up getting blown out that day—it was something like 8-0 going into the bottom of the first—but all 36,000 fans got to enjoy one moment of ecstasy despite it all. Bill Murray threw out the opening pitch. And boy did he throw it. Murray went up to the mound and instead of attempting to throw a strike, as most folks do, he opted to throw the ball completely out of the stadium. It was hilarious and his act warmed the hearts of every half-frozen person in the stands.

I’m sure it comes as no surprise that there are hundreds of Bill Murray tattoos out in the world. Down below we’ve tried to organize them by film with a bunch of miscellaneous ones thrown in at the end. There should be way more “What About Bob?” tattoos, but there aren’t, I guess I need to go out and change that. Baby steps and what not…

Enjoy yourselves some Bill Murray tattoos.
