U.S. Secretary of State Blinken announced on Monday that President Biden will visit Israel even as the country continues to hammer away at Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
“On Wednesday, President Biden will visit Israel,” said Blinken.
“He’s coming here at a critical moment for Israel, for the region, and for the world. And he’s coming here to do the following: First, the president will reaffirm the United States’ solidarity with Israel and our ironclad commitment to its security,” he added.
“President Biden will again make clear, as he has done unequivocally since Hamas’ slaughter of 1,400 people, including at least 30 Americans, that Israel has the right, and indeed the duty, to defend its people from Hamas and other terrorists and to prevent future attacks,” Blinken continued.
He went on say the president would make the visit a warning to state and non-state actors against trying to take advantage of the opportunity to attack Israel.
Biden has been lambasted by Republicans and other critics for allowing $6 billion of Iranian funds to be be unfrozen as a part of a prisoner swap deal. The administration has claimed those funds were not allowed to be used for anything other than humanitarian purposes, but the Iranian regime admitted they will be used for anything the country wants.
In the wake of the terror attacks in Israel, other attacks on civilians have been conducted by those with alleged sympathies toward the terrorists. One teacher was stabbed and killed at a school in northern France, and three others were injured by a man with terrorist ties, according to law enforcement.
Also on Monday, a man killed two Swedes in a gun attack in Brussels, Belgium. Police said the man may have posted videos to social media declaring his allegiance to ISIS.
