A 43-year-old Redwood City man was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting early Monday morning in Hayward, police said.

The name of the person killed was not immediately released.

No suspects or arrests were announced.

Hayward police responded about 2 a.m. Monday to reports of a shooting in the area of B and Alice streets, police said.

Before officers arrived at the shooting scene, police received another 9-1-1 call from a man reporting that his friend had been shot and he was driving the friend to a hospital, police said.

Officers found three people at the hospital who had been shot in connection with the shooting scene, police said.

The 43-year-old Redwood City man received treatment but died from his injuries, police said.

A 44-year-old Hayward man was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

And a 32-year-old Alameda man received treatment for non-life threatening injuries, police said. The Alameda man was identified as the person who called to report his friend had been shot.

This is Hayward’s seventh homicide of 2023, police said.
