OAKLAND — Homicide investigators on Wednesday released video images of a man sought as a person of interest in the July 27 fatal shooting of a United Kingdom resident in the Eastlake district.
Investigators would like to talk to the man in connection with the killing of Satyan Dave, 49, who was fatally shot about 5:11 a.m. July 27 in the area of Seventh Avenue and International Boulevard.
The video surveillance puts the man in the area at the time of the shooting.
He is described as a Black man in his 20s to 30s, with a thin build and short dreadlocks. He was wearing a distinctive vest with lettering and a star on the back.
Dave, a contract employee for a shipping company with offices in Oakland, had arrived on a ship at the Port of Oakland the day before. How he spent his time after leaving the ship has not been completely confirmed but he may have had dinner in another city before ending up where he was killed.
Police have said he was shot after getting into a verbal dispute with another person on the street.
He lived in London and had two children, a relative said.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
