If we spend so much time inside a car, wouldn’t it make sense for designers to devote as much effort inside as outside? While automotive styling can find its origins in the 1920s, the idea of instrument panel ergonomics is a more recent phenomenon. Yet sometimes it’s not about ergonomics as much as just some big design idea someone came up with.

In this episode of Drive the Bid podcast from AutoHunter.com, Derek Shiekhi, “Jalopy Jeff” Sutton and I discuss gauges clusters and instrument panels that strike our fancy in some way. Are they easy to read? Is there some flash not found in other automobiles? Our choices run the gamut, both analog and electronic.

What gauge cluster or dashboard do you think stands out?

Other discussions include news on — surprise! — a new production Fisker, the 2024 Porsche 911 S/T, and 2024 Nissan Z NISMO.

Of course, each of us picked our favorites currently listed on AutoHunter, including a 1973 Mercury Cougar XR-7, 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, and 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner.

All this can be seen in the above video from AutoHunter Cinema, created by the experts behind ClassicCars.com, the world’s largest online collector car marketplace. AutoHunter brings forth a dedicated live customer support team, quicker auction listings and exclusive benefits for both buyers and sellers.
