The family of a 19-year-old woman who was caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting and murdered in St. Louis is outraged after two suspects arrested for the crime had their charges dropped over the murder of a witness.

Corey Hardy and Jalin Jefferson were teenagers when they were arrested for the Oct. 2021 murder of Isis Aaliyah Mahr. Three other teenagers were shot and injured at the drive-by incident in the Baden neighborhood.

Both Hardy and Jefferson were to be tried as adults for first-degree murder in the trial scheduled to begin this month.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office instead confirmed that all charges were dropped against the suspects because the only witness willing to testify was also murdered.

KMOV-TV reported that the prosecutors in the cases were accused of incompetence several times for failing to provide defense attorneys with evidence. At one point, a judge was “considering sanctions” against prosecutors.

The accusations of judicial neglect were made while the office was run by Kimberly Gardner, a circuit attorney who had received the backing of billionaire leftist George Soros. She resigned from the position in May 2023 after a torrent of criticism about her neglect for the duties of the office.

The witness who was murdered had been a witness in another murder before they were killed, and they were scheduled to testify at that trial as well according to KMOV.

Isis Mahr’s father, Atif Mahr, told KMOV that he will continue to fight for justice for his daughter.

“We fought the fight and we just ended up losing,” he said. “At this point. It’s not over we just lost at this stage.”

There are several other criminal cases as part of which charges may be dismissed due to judicial neglect committed during the tenure of the former Soros-backed circuit judge.
