The Burris SpeedBead Shotgun Vent Rib Optic Mount
Constructed of aluminum with a black anodized finish, the SpeedBead provides easy DIY installation with no drilling or tapping. The mount is self-centering and comes with assorted rib adapters. As a result, it comes ready to fit multiple shotgun vent rib widths. Likewise, its design and finish will last a long time and not harm your gun.
The vent rib mount completely captures the vent rib on both sides for maximum clamping power along the full length of the mount. For this reason, the mount can withstand shotguns utilizing high-density ammunition and those fitted with tight chokes. To install, simply attach your red dot to the SpeedBead and then attach the SpeedBead to your vent rib. Then, just sight it in.
Although the SpeedBead is designed for the Burris FastFire series red dots, it is compatible with any red dot that uses the Docter mounting pattern.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t too sure about the idea of a red dot on a shotgun. It seemed a little unnecessary. However, after installing an optic to my Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical, I stand corrected. The difference in target acquisition speed is noticeable and welcomed. This is true for both hunting and home defense.
When considering a red dot optic for a shotgun, look for one with a ring/dot reticle. The ring acts as a makeshift bracketing reticle for the shotgun’s spread at distance.
