MORGAN HILL – A 21-year-old Morgan Hill man has been arrested in connection with a recent shooting in the city, police said.

The shooting was reported Sept. 25 near West Main and Hale avenues, the Morgan Hill Police Department said in a news release Wednesday. The victim was driving westbound on West Main when he was shot at by the suspect, who was driving eastbound.

Police said the victim’s vehicle was struck by a single bullet, but he escaped injury.

Officers found three .45-caliber shell casings in the roadway and ultimately identified both the suspect’s vehicle and residence, police said.

On Oct. 22, officers served a search warrant at the home. They found a .45-caliber handgun and .45-caliber ammunition, police said. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose on charges of assault with a firearm and malicious and willful discharge of a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle.
