SANTA CLARA — The 49ers’ wettest game in Levi’s Stadium history is about to unfold, with kickoff still set for 5:20 p.m. against the Indianapolis Colts.

A seven-man squeegee crew began skimming water off the field’s tarp at about 2 p.m., and that tarp got rolled up in time for players to warm up on the field by 3:15 p.m.

As for the game itself, left tackle Trent Williams will not suit up after being listed as doubtful because of ankle and elbow injuries. That means Jaylon Moore will make his first career start in his place.

The weather forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of rain throughout the game. Just as noteworthy: the gale warning of 16 mph wind amid 62-degree conditions.

Jimmy Garoppolo, in returning from a calf contusion that kept him out for a game and a half, is wearing two gloves in warmups, where the wind seems more of a hindrance than the water.

The last time a 49ers’ home game waited until pregame to remove a rain-soaked tarp, at least in recent memory, was the 2011 season’s playoffs, when they lost to the New York Giants in overtime of the NFC Championship Game.

Since Levi’s Stadium opened in 2014, only a few 49ers games have encountered wet conditions, the most recent being in 2018 against the Seattle Seahawks.

49ERS INACTIVES

Quarterback Trey Lance won’t suit up for the first time his rookie season, because of a sprained knee from last game, his starting debut in Arizona that was a 17-10 loss two weeks ago.

Also inactive are defensive tackles Javon Kinlaw (knee) and Maurice Hurst (calf); cornerbacks Ambry Thomas and Deommodore Lenoir; and, wide receiver Travis Benjamin.

BANKS ACTIVE

Guard Aaron Banks, the 49ers’ second-round draft pick out of Notre Dame, will suit up for the first time this season. Other backups on the offensive line are Tom Compton and Jake Brendel.

COLTS INACTIVES

The Colts deactivated wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, quarterback Sam Ehlinger, running back Jordan Wilkins, defensive end Kemoko Turay, tackle Braden Smith and offensive lineman Will Fries.
