HERCULES — A magnitude 2.8 earthquake was briefly felt in the East Bay early Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake, which had an epicenter about 2 miles southeast of Hercules, occurred at 6:34 a.m. with an initial depth of about 6 miles, the USGS reported.
A map produced by USGS indicates the quake was centered not far from Hercules Middle School. User-submitted responses reflect that the quake was felt as far south as Fremont.
USGS did not immediately report any injuries or damage associated with the earthquake.
