BRENTWOOD — The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has charged a 19-year-old Brentwood man after his arrest in connection with a shooting incident outside a home last month, authorities said.
According to police, officers responded around 9:15 a.m. Dec. 15, 2022 to a home in the 100 block of Dunedin Drive for a shooting report. When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings at an intersection near the home, where residents were inside. The home was hit but no one was wounded.
Information from other neighborhood residents helped investigators identify a silver four-door Infiniti G37 sedan as a possible suspect vehicle, which detectives were able to find and recover the next day.
The shooting suspect was arrested on a warrant Saturday and taken to Martinez county jail, where he was held on $250,000 bail.
The district attorney’s office charged Pena Tuesday with felony shooting into an inhabited dwelling. He faced an arraignment hearing Wednesday at Martinez Superior Court, according to a jail records check.
Although a motive for the shooting was still under investigation, detectives said they believe the Infiniti’s pre-existing bullet holes may be a sign of involvement in a prior shooting.
