Holiday music rang out from the GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band as nearly 2,000 meals were served to some of San Francisco’s most vulnerable people at GLIDE Memorial Church on Sunday.

Dozens of volunteers from across the Bay Area distributed meals of ham, turkey and all the fixings on a warm Christmas Day in the Tenderloin District. People in need ate in an outdoor dining room under large tents erected on the street in front of the church.

The celebration included a musical extravaganza featuring sermons from Minister of Celebration Marvin K White and performances by the GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band under the direction of Vernon Bush and Zoe Ellis.

Also, Joe Betz and San Francisco’s House of Prime Rib provided 3,000 pounds of delicious prime rib and sides for GLIDE Foundation’s popular free Christmas Eve Luncheon on Saturday.

GLIDE is a nationally-recognized center for social justice dedicated to fighting systemic injustices, creating pathways out of poverty and crisis and transforming lives.
