Eight big rig trucks caught fire Sunday morning in West Oakland, sending a black plume of smoke drifting high into the sky.
None of the trucks appeared to be attached to trailers when they caught fire just after 8:30 a.m. near 14th and Maritime streets in West Oakland, according to Michael Hunt, a spokesman for the Oakland Fire Department. They appeared to have been parked at the time in a lot, and each rig had been facing the same direction.
