SAN LEANDRO — A man’s body was found Friday morning in a canal next to the Monarch Bay Golf Course, authorities said.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office is trying to identify the man. An autopsy will be conducted to determine how he died.
The man was found about 11 a.m. Friday in the Estudillo Canal, which runs next to the golf course into San Francisco Bay.
Alameda County firefighters retrieved the body from the water.
Police said it appears the body had been in the water for some time.
