One of the most undervalued supercars is the 2001-2007 Aston Martin Vanquish. This stunning GT is considered by many to be designer Ian Callum’s automotive masterpiece. Ian used the DB4GT Zagato as his starting point for the Vanquish and sought to create a car that was more aggressive than the DB7. To my eye Ian definitely succeeded, as the Vanquish was also chosen to be 007’s car in Die Another Day and marked the return of Aston being the preferred car of James Bond.
The Vanquish is not just a nice styling exercise but has the performance to back it up as well. It’s is constructed of advanced carbon fiber and aluminum alloy, and is powered by Aston’s 5.9-liter V12 engine producing a factory-rated 460 horsepower and 400 ft/lb of torque. This gave the car a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds, a 0-100 mph time of 9.9 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. Definitely supercar numbers, especially in 2001.
The Vanquish is also notable because it’s the very last Aston Martin model built at the Newport Pagnell factory, the same factory that turned out the classic DB4, DB5, and DB6s.
The Vanquish is also a limited production model with a total of only 2,578 cars built from 2001 until the end of production in 2007. For a comparison Ferrari built a total of 3,083 of its 550 Maranello, the car that the Vanquish was built to compete against. This bears mentioning due to the fact that a Vanquish is not only rarer car than the 550, it is somehow also less expensive to buy today.

The Vanquish is a complex car and it would be a good idea to have a pre-purchase inspection done on a car of this caliber. No Aston Martin is inexpensive to service and a car like this one will have needs that should be attended to by a specialist. That being said, these cars are not troublesome, despite having an expensive clutch service when needed, and offer a level of sophistication and build quality that equals or betters its competitor from Ferrari.
The asking price of this Vanquish is $74,900 and is a bargain for what you are getting at that price point. These cars cannot remain priced this low forever and my advice would be to buy one now while they remain affordable.
Of all the different cars I have owned none have felt as special to me as Aston Martins and a Vanquish is the end of an era. To me the Vanquish is the most important modern model the company has built.
