OAKLAND — A 56-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition Friday after a shooting in the Uptown area, police said.

The gunfire happened about 2:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Grand Avenue near Broadway. The man was shot in the abdominal area.

According to police, the man was sitting in the driver’s seat of a Mercedes sedan waiting to pick up food at a nearby restaurant when two men approached him.

Police said the two suspects pointed guns at him and demanded the man’s car and keys.

When the man did not comply immediately, one of the suspects shot him, police said. Then they ran away into a nearby vehicle and fled, police said.

Police did not have a detailed description of the suspects.
