BERKELEY — A person was hit by a train Monday morning at the North Berkeley BART Station, officials said.

The person was taken to a hospital, authorities said. BART officials did not immediately release the person’s gender or age.

The incident happened about 5:46 a.m. In a statement, BART officials said “a person in crisis” entered the trackway and was hit by a train.

There was no foul play, the statement said.

Trains were not stopping at the station while the person was removed from the tracks and transported to a hospital. Trains did resume normal service by 6:11 a.m., officials said

In the interim, AC Transit was providing bus service between the Berkeley and North Berkeley stations.
