State of the City
Mayor Sam Liccardo is set to deliver the State of the City address on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the California Theatre, 345 S. First St. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m., and the address will start at 6 p.m. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
Residents are strongly encouraged to RSVP to Eventbrite.com before the event. Covid-19 safety protocols will be enforced.
Nowruz ambassadors wanted
The Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose is embarking on a three-year project exploring Nowruz, the Persian New Year celebration of the spring equinox, with the goal of developing a cultural festival and a museum exhibition with individuals and organizations that celebrate Nowruz.
Nowruz ambassadors can participate in a focus group, complete a questionnaire about their Nowruz traditions, introduce museum staff to others in the Persian community, share recipes and favorite children’s music selections, talk with children about their family history and traditions and share photos and historical objects.
The museum is holding a Nowruz planning meeting Sept. 17, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. To register, visit https://www.cdm.org/nowruz.
