Raise your hand if you’re devastated about the storytelling masterpiece “Attack on Titan” coming to an end. After nearly a decade, Hajime Isayama’s grotesquely barbaric titans will frolic, flail and mutilate the human race no longer. All that’ll be left are the memories of crushing deaths and triumphant victories (but at what cost?). If you’ve been following the series since the very beginning, you’ve undergone visceral experiences of betrayal, horror, sentimentality and heartbreak. With part two of season four just around the corner, you can add denial to the list of your feelings revolving around the show. Even as things are coming to a close, that doesn’t mean we can’t immortalize some of the most iconic scenes, characters and symbols on our skin to keep the series and its cultural impact alive.
The animation contains some of the most gorgeously gruesome, dynamic and mind-bending action shots, as well as afflicted facial expressions drawn by artist Isayama himself. Not only that, but the way the series has evolved from a narrow storyline about monsters eating people to commenting on the most ill-fated complexities of human nature gives way to limitless metaphorical images that make for powerful pieces of ink, guaranteed to grab the attention of fans and strangers alike. From Eren’s piercing emerald eyes to his titan form’s raging snarl, Levi’s solemn death glare to his blood-spattered face titan slash, or the smoking veins of the Armored and Colossal Titan’s sculpted bodies, there is no shortage of illustrious designs that capture the intensity of the show’s most poignant moments. These are just a few that we think do the anime justice.
