SAN JOSE – A 53-year-old Livermore man was arrested last week in San Jose on suspicion of sexually assaulting an underage boy he met online, according to authorities.
The assault was reported on Dec. 31, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release Wednesday.
An investigation determined the suspect and the victim met through an online chat application and arranged to meet in San Jose. During the meeting, the suspect drove the victim to an empty parking lot, where he sexually assaulted him, Shih said.
Detectives identified the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest and to search his home.
He was arrested Jan. 23 in San Jose and booked into Santa Clara County jail on a sexual assault of a minor charge. Livermore police, meanwhile, served the search warrant at his residence.
