SUNNYVALE — A driver hit and killed a pedestrian Saturday evening, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision was reported around 6 p.m. near North Fair Oaks and Columbia avenues, police said. Responding officers and fire personnel found a man “suffering from major injuries.” The injured man died after being taken to a hospital.
His name was not immediately released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
Police said the driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with officers, and that it is unclear whether the driver’s speed, or possible impairment, contributed to the collision. The department did not release additional details Sunday.
Anyone with information about the crash can contact Investigator David Larks at 408-730-7110.
