This year marks seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton’s last year driving for Mercedes after an extremely successful 12-season run. In that time, he racked up an unbelievable 84 victories, 78 pole positions, and six drivers championships. In honor of this incredible achievement in the most difficult and challenging series in motorsports, I decided to make my Pick of the Day an appropriate car for celebrating his accomplishments.

The Pick of the Day is this stunning 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe, which was coincidentally built in the same year that Hamilton won his 6th championship with Mercedes, the one that tied him with Michael Schumacher at seven total F1 championships.

I feel this pick is even more fitting because the AMG GT also has a pretty amazing track record itself, seeing class wins on almost every course in the world, including a 1-4 finish at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, as well as victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Daytona.

This specific car is the GT C, the higher-performance variant of the AMG GT. Under the hood is the Mercedes M178 V8 tuned to deliver 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque. The GT C also has a wider body and active rear steering.

The seller describes this car as a gorgeous two-owner GT C Coupe. The exterior is covered in the optional designo Selenite Grey Magno paint with clear protection film on the front bumper, hood, and fenders. The interior has black and silver Nappa leather and matte carbon fiber trim.

This 2020 GT C is also equipped with factory GT R wheels and tires and the factory GT R carbon fiber fixed rear wing. The stock motorized GT C wing and GT C wheel/tire set are happily included with the purchase of the car, along with indoor and outdoor car covers, two remote keys, and the owners manuals.

There is another Lewis Hamilton connection with the AMG GT: This was the model that Lewis used to give demo rides at F1 tracks around the world during his tenure with Mercedes. Much like Hamilton himself, the AMG GT, a weapons-grade V8-powered supercar, is something we are not likely to ever see again as we move more and more towards electric cars. The fact that is as easy to drive at the limit as your daily driver helps you entertain the fantasy that you are a much better driver than you are. I know it did that every time I tested one.

There is another factor that makes me quite bullish on these cars as big-time future classics. The AMG GT, in all its variations, is likely the easiest supercar you can own and enjoy. Yes, service costs will not be inexpensive, but they will be much less expensive than those for anything you can think of from Italy. In addition, the AMG GT is the supercar you can use every day. You can take it to drop your kid off at school, head to the office for a few hours, get to the track in the early afternoon, and then drive back to your kid’s school to pick them up. Try that in a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

One final thing about the AMG GT that is very attractive is the price. These machines are, without a doubt, the most affordable supercars on the market and this one, with an asking price of $119,999, might be just the Christmas present to give yourself this year. It’s also a perfect way to commemorate Hamilton’s achievements in a car you drive every day.
