Looking for a classic truck to haul all your holiday gifts around? Whether you’re picking up a TV, some home décor, tools for the workshop, or a new propane grille, this Ford F-Series can handle it.
The Pick of the Day is a 1956 Ford F-100 pickup listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Newport Beach, California. (Click the link to view the listing.)
“Original restoration in 2022 with 625 miles,” the listing says. “Really clean and runs great.”
The truck’s monochromatic red paint treatment extends to the running boards and even the steel wheels. The seller says that the oak bed was replaced during restoration; stainless steel hardware holds it all together. The F-Series’ second generation spanned 1953 through 1956. For that last model year, the design received a few updates, such as vertical A-pillars, a wrap-around windshield, and a new grille.
The interior is done up with a tan vinyl bench seat, black carpeting, and a body-color dashboard. Replacement carpeting, headliner, door panels, and seat belts were installed. For max cabin comfort, a Vintage Air A/C system was added, too.
Ford promoted its 1956 trucks by calling out three key benefits: more power, more safety, and more payload. The company also mentioned how cost-efficient they were to own and maintain compared to pickups from other brands. “Ford trucks cost less to maintain because they’re built stronger to last longer.” Some of the features backing up that claim were:
- 1.) Short stroke engine design
- 2.) Bigger brakes than other half-ton trucks
- 3.) Centrifugal clutch design
- 4.) Higher front-and-rear axle capacity versus competitors
The listing doesn’t call out the specific engine specifications for this custom truck, but we can see from the photos that it’s a V8 and has been upgraded with Ford Racing chrome valve covers and an aluminum radiator. The alternator and wiring harness are newer, per the seller, and torque is sent to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission that is still under warranty.
Regardless of how big or small the items on your shopping list are this year, you’ll be glad to have a truck around that can pitch in with transport duties. This classic Ford would look great with a Christmas tree in the back.
The asking price is $52,000 or best offer.
