I realized within the past year that there are good problems to have. For instance, if you’re a small business owner and you have so many clients that you have to expand your staff, that’s a good problem. In a way, automakers have a good problem of their own: They pour millions of dollars into making their SUVs more aerodynamic, fuel-efficient, and packed with infotainment and driver assistance technologies, but there are thousands of people out there who are just fine buying their old-school, boxy, low-tech off-roaders (although the money doesn’t go to the manufacturers). You could be the person who purchases our Pick of the Day, a 1989 GMC V1500 Jimmy listed by a Florida dealership on ClassicCars.com.

Getting away from it all doesn’t have to be a complicated process nor does it require a vehicle with a low coefficient of drag, cylinder deactivation, and an electronically adjustable suspension. It just needs room for you and your special someone or some of your friends, a trusty engine, and, if you’re going somewhere especially remote, four-wheel drive.

This handsome silver rig has a 350ci V8, a two-speed transfer case, and 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/As, plus some nice comfort and convenience features. The power windows can be lowered and the black hardtop that goes over the second row can be removed to let the clean smell of the outdoors fill the cabin. If the outside temperature gets a little too high as you head to the beach, just crank up the air conditioning. The power steering makes long drives out of the city a little easier; power front disc brakes provide peace of mind all along the way. No shifting is required thanks to the automatic transmission.

Now’s a great time of year to see the colors of the fall leaves and go on romantic getaways, maybe to a cabin or a cozy bed & breakfast in a small town. You can get to one of those places where spreadsheets don’t exist and key cards don’t matter in this charmingly simple and wonderfully rugged 1989 GMC V1500 Jimmy for $25,900.
